Bio

I believe that in many cases bio’s/profiles can be more of a distraction than relevant to the value of what is being written.  However, the reader deserves a basic understanding of that which has molded and influenced a person’s thought process.   My opinions come primarily from my real world life experiences, as opposed to taking an academic approach.  Additionally, I understand the importance of establishing at least initial credibility and a baseline by revealing the sources that have influenced my biases.  What follows will hopefully provide that insight.

I am adopted and was brought up in a blue collar family in a mid-western city.  I have lived in the Southwest since 1972.  Although I was raised in a strong democratic environment (my father was an AFl-CIO/UAW union executive) I consider myself an independent.  I served in the U.S. military and yes I am a war veteran.   My work experience includes both the public and private sectors.   Private sector experiences include farming as a youth, two years in the steel industry, fourteen years in Aerospace, and twenty-five years in the financial industry.   My public sector experience of 18+ years to date includes serving on several boards and commissions, running a successful political campaign, and being the co-founder/spokesperson of a grassroots organization. The grass roots organization focused on public access issues regarding municipal park property.

I have strong opinions but have found that everyone’s opinion has been invaluable in shaping my own.  I am not threatened by opposing opinions rather I welcome them.  I believe that in discussing issues each side benefits by the blended, if not balanced, perspective that we gain. However, I have little tolerance for personal attacks whether directed at me or individuals being discussed in this blog.  Such attacks will be ignored.

So let’s start.   Step back, think, validate or challenge.

  1. Phil,

Thanks so much for alerting me to this wonderfully incisive blog. The manner in which you distill your thoughts & zero-in on a solution to many of our national problems is truly unique & refreshingly clear.

Keep up the dialog. We need more Americans like you!

    Warmest Regards,
    Scott

  2. Phil… Finally, you have taking the time & effort to act upon something that’s be in your heart for years! There is a time & place for everything and this seems to be that time. May this be a blessing to you and everyone that tunes in!

  3. Phil,

You have a great gift for words. Particularly since they are coming from your heart. Right on with everything. Keep it coming and God Bless……………

    Many thanks,

    Jim
